Fresh Graduate CV Template: Stand Out With No Experience

The hardest CV to write is the first one. You do not have a long employment history, and the templates online assume you do. The trick for an entry-level CV is to lead with the things you do have — coursework, projects, internships, volunteer work — and structure them like real experience. Here is the proven structure for a strong fresh graduate CV.

The fresh-graduate CV structure that works

1. Contact block — name, phone, email, LinkedIn, city.
2. Short profile — three lines naming your degree, the kind of role you are seeking, and one standout strength.
3. Education — degree, university, graduation date, GPA if 3.3+ on a 4 scale or equivalent, top 4 relevant courses, thesis if any.
4. Projects — two or three. Academic, hackathon, freelance, or personal — treat each one like a job.
5. Internships and part-time work — real or unpaid.
6. Skills — tools, languages, certifications.
7. Activities — student clubs, volunteer work, sports, only if they show leadership or initiative.

How to make a project look like experience

A project bullet should not say 'Built a website for class.' It should say 'Built a 5-page React storefront for a university hackathon, integrating Stripe test payments and shipping to 4 testers in 48 hours.' The formula: what you built, the stack, the constraint, the outcome. Three of those bullets per project. They read exactly like work experience to a recruiter.

Soft skills nobody believes

Drop 'team player, fast learner, passionate.' Every CV has them. Either prove them ('led a 4-person capstone team to deliver an ML classifier two weeks early') or remove them.

Internships, even tiny ones, count double

A two-week shadowing at a local firm is real exposure. Write it like a job: dates, company, one sentence of context, two or three bullet outcomes. Same goes for paid tutoring, family-business work, and any side income — these prove reliability.

Skills section that actually moves the needle

Group your skills: Technical (Python, SQL, Figma), Languages (Arabic native, English fluent), Certifications (Google Data Analytics, AWS Cloud Practitioner). Skip generic Microsoft Office unless the role is admin or finance.

What to leave off the first CV

• School grades from before university.
• Generic hobbies (reading, travelling, music) — only keep them if they directly relate to the role.
• Photos of certificates. List them in text; offer copies on request.
• A 'References available on request' line — recruiters know.

One page, full of substance

For a first CV, one page is the rule. If you cannot fill a page, the answer is to add depth to your projects, not to stretch margins. If you have spilled to two pages, the answer is to cut the weakest bullet from each section until you fit.
